Forest School
Child Led Learning in Nature
We know that children learn, grow, explore and feel calm when they are immersed in nature. Our sessions are designed to include and involve all children in their own exploration of the natural world around them and help build confidence, friendships and lead to better emotional regulation and managed risk taking.

Safely organised, led by Forest School qualified and DBS checked staff, taster sessions available and children with SEND especially welcome.

This daycare provision will be all inclusive. Including children who are home educated, flexibly schooled, children who are in alternative education or in mainstream school part time. Children with an EHCP can also be accommodated.

From our experience, children thrive from being outdoors; children are free to explore and feed their own curiosity and be the developers of their own culture.
You have access to our woodland adventure playground to improve physical skills, coordination and build confidence and resilience.
Forest School - Every Thursday
Lymley Wood Forest School runs on Thursday 9.30am - 2.15 pm
Suitable for ages 5 -11 this is a chance for any children who are home educated or out of school for any reason to learn and develop in a Forest School environment. Led by qualified forest school staff, each session will build on previous learning and use nature and the changing seasons as a learning opportunities. Following a curriculum and embracing child led learning, these drop off sessions will enable children to develop and grow without the confines of a classroom. SEND children welcome.

Each session will include:
-
a welcome session to get to know each other and understand the health safety in the woods,
-
a familiarisation walk around the site noticing seasonal changes and features (think autumn leaves, summer butterflies)
-
art and creative activity
-
bugs and animals activity
-
adventure playground time – low ropes and climbing
-
free play
-
campfire
Periods of activity and play are balanced with quieter times for rest, stories and songs. Bring part of a forest school class can provide valuable support for children who may struggle in an indoor education setting and they will come away feeling nurtured and refreshed as well as making new friends and having a personalised approach to their own learning.
